Dorothy Burkhardt

Dorothy Burkhardt, age 85, of Shelbina, MO, passed away, Wednesday April 1, 2020 in Shelbina, MO.

Dorothy was born on October 20, 1934, in Clarence, MO, the daughter of Eldred Gynath and Hazel Katherine Hubble Bowman.  She was united in marriage to Richard Burkhardt on February 14, 1953 in Clarence, MO. He survives.

She is survived by three children, Kathy Kendrick (Anthony) of Centralia, MO, Kelly Saunders (Philip) of Shelbina, MO, and Rick Burkhardt (Fiancé Colleen Henrichs) of Shelbina, MO; five grandchildren, Shannon Wittmer (Jonathon) of Hewitt, TX, Justin Kendrick (Bethany) of Columbia, MO, Luke Saunders of Shelbina, MO, Christopher Saunders (Maria) of Shelbina, MO and Richele Kirby (Tyler) of San Clemente, CA; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Bob Bowman; two infant brothers; and one daughter-in-law Peggy Burkhardt.

Dorothy belonged to United Methodist church of Clarence, MO, Eastern Star, Confederated Woman’s Club of Clarence and was a Girl Scout leader for many years. She enjoyed helping Richard on the farm, crocheting, reading, sewing, and spending time with family and grandchildren.

Due to CDC guidelines we will be having a private graveside service that will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at the Jacksonville Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.  Memorial Service will be held at a later date for the public.   Memorials may be made to the Neighbors Helping Neighbors or Susan G. Komen in Memory of Peggy Burkhardt.
