Memorial Day Service to be Held

The annual Memorial Day Service hosted by the American Legion Post 376 will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 25, 2026, at the American Legion Hall in Shelbina.

The featured speaker this year will be John Buckwalter, U.S. Army (Ret.), Immediate Past Missouri State Commander, who currently lives in Kirksville.

The names of local veterans who have died since Memorial Day 2025 will be read  during the service. A ceremonial rifle volley will be fired at the conclusion of the service.

Lunch will be provided and served by the Sons of American Legion after the ceremony.

Flags will be raised Thursday, May 21 at the Shelbina Cemetery beginning at 4 p.m. at  the south entrance. Veterans will be assisted by FFA members and volunteers would be appreciated. Friday is the rain date.
