Ivy Madilyn “Madi” (Davidson) Whitaker

Ivy Madilyn “Madi” Davidson Whitaker, age 23, of Monticello, MO passed away Sunday afternoon, May 3, 2020 while hiking near Mark Twain Lake. Madi was born November 26, 1996 at Quincy, IL to Thomas and Mary Davidson. Due to the covid pandemic, she didn’t get to have the wedding she had planned for April 18, but happily said “I Do” to her best friend/soulmate, Geoffrey Whitaker, on March 27, 2020 at the Macon MO courthouse.

Madi was a 2015 graduate of North Shelby School. She participated in softball, played  clarinet in band, was an Honor Society member and loved cheering on the Raiders. She attended MACC and Columbia College, graduating in 2019. She had worked at the Shelbina Villa, Macon Health Care Center and was currently employed in the physical therapy department at St. Vincent’s Home in Quincy, IL. She was a devoted ‘mom’ to all her numerous pets.

She is survived by her husband, Geoffrey of Monticello; her parents, Tom and Mary Davidson of Shelbyville, MO. Brother and sister-in-law, John and Bethany Davidson of Leonard, MO; father and mother-in-law, Tony and Ronda Whitaker of Lewistown; brother-in-law and wife Douglas and Courtney Whitaker of LaGrange, MO; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, and two special, lifelong, sidekick besties, Emily Baker and Kara Harrison.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather and Granny, Les and Ivy Mann of Leonar; paternal grandparents, John and Madeline Davidson of Quincy and a cousin, Amanda Thomas.

A funeral service was at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home for family and close friends. 

Visitation was held Thursday, May 7, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Graveside for the public was held following the service at the Leonard Cemetery in Leonard.
