Wallace Lee Prince passed away March 19, 2021 at his home in Bethel.
Wally was born July 24, 1938 in Balch, Ariz., the son of Alfred and Dorothy (Fowble) Prince. He was united in marriage to Fern Mae Minks on December 22, 1977 in Shelbyville. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Christina Winking (Brian) of Quincy, Ill., William Prince (Nancy) of Quincy, Ill., step-son, Chad Copenhaver (Sandra) of Holliday, and step-daughter, Cindy Trenhaile (Jeffrey) of Shelbyville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Prince of Norman AR, Jimmy Prince of Lampasas, Tex. and Glen Prince of Mendon, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa Prince; step-son, Richard Lee Copenhaver; two brothers, Harry and Oscar Prince; and two infant sisters.
Wally served his country in the United States Navy. He served in Vietnam and retired after 22 years. He was a past mayor of Bethel, MO, and member of the American Legion, Fleet Reserve, and the Christian Church of Balch, AR. Wally enjoyed being a gunsmith, raising calves, gardening, and spending time with Fern and granddaughter, Jacey.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 21 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. The funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, March 22, 2021 at the funeral home in Shelbina. Burial will be held in the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville.
