He’s been a part of North Shelby’s football program since they transitioned into 8-man football in 2016.
Before the transition, the 11-man program had a 63-game losing streak.
Head Coach Seth Bass led the Raiders to their first home win since 2009 when they defeated Northwest (Hughesville) 52-18.
Bass submitted his resignation Monday, May 2 and informed the players of his decision the next day. He will be leaving the district at the end of the school year.
“I’ve always wanted to start a program from scratch,” Bass said during a phone call to the Herald.
Bass said schools in Iowa and Kansas have made him offers for coaching and teaching. One is Calamus Wheatland (IA) and the other is Northland Christian.
Since entering his career at NS, Bass has guided the Raiders to a 32-23 record.
The Raiders have made back-to-back state quarterfinal appearances in the last two years.
