Gerald Ray Fifer

Gerald Ray Fifer,  72, of Shelbina, Mo., passed away on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.

Ray was born  December 2, 1949, in Shelby County, the son of Joseph Harvey and Illine Mills (Montgomery) Fifer. He was united in marriage to Diana Mefford on June 14, 1997 in Shelbina. She survives.

Ray is also survived by his son, Jerry Ray Fifer (Sylvia) of Shelbina, two step-sons, James Failor (Charlene) of Shelbina and Brad Shrader (Kayla) of Shelbina; 10 grandchildren, Trinity Raylynn Fifer, Bryan James Leftwich, Tobias Ace Leftwich, Cody James Failor, Amanda Kiser, Kayden Shrader, Hadley Shrader, Evan Shrader, Colton Clark, and Gunner Shrader; eight siblings, Harvey Fifer (Marlene) of Shelbina, Barbara Davis (Kenneth) of Albuquerque, N.M., Sam Fifer of Shelbina, Gary Fifer (Kathy) of Shelbina, David Fifer, Bonnie Hopper (Robert) of Clarence, May Smith (Phil) of Shelbina and Sandra Copenhaver (Chad) of Madison.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a twin sister, Geraldine Baker; brothers, Bobbie Joe Fifer, Fred Fifer, and Larry Fifer; and sister, Tammy Lynn Fifer.

Ray was a member of the Shelbina First Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Ray was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering around with woodworking, and spending a lot of time with his grandkids. Ray loved to visit his neighbors especially, Nora Utterback.

Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Monday, February 14, 2022, at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. Burial will be at Shelbina Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held  Sunday, February 13,  from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Kayden’s Education. The family requests masks are worn to the visitation and service.
