City Receives Update on UV System for Lagoon

The Shelbyville City Board of Alderman met Monday, February 7, 2022. Present were Mayor Mike Vanskike, Aldermen, Brad Willey, Jerry Myers and Rob Southers. Also present was Mark Bross of Klinger and Associates, City Superintendent Randy Shores and city employee Nathan Minear.
Mayor Vanskike called the meeting to order at 6 p.m.
The minutes from the previous meeting and bills were approved.
Lagoon Update
Bross presented a set of blueprints for the proposed UV system. An additional copy will be sent to Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for their approval. Bross expects bidding to take place in April with a projected cost of $80,000 to $100,000. The system is projected to be completed late October.
New Business
American Rescue Act: It appears the American Recue Act funds can be used in the UV construction. City Clerk Gina Mesmer will contact Mark Twain Regional Council of Governments for their opinion.
Shelby County Associate Judge Mike Greenwell sent a letter thanking the city for their donation to the 41st Judicial Treatment Court program.
Old Business
Demolition should begin by February 11, on the 19 houses that will be torn down.
Personnel Policy and various options were discussed. Alderman Myers motioned to table the issue until the March 7 meeting. Alderman Willey seconded and motion passed on a voice vote.
