Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home has expanded into Monroe County with the purchase of Agnew Funeral Home in Paris on September 1, 2023.
Former owner/funeral home director Jim Reinhart retired after selling the business.
“Several years ago, Jim (Reinhart) was getting at the age that he was thinking about retiring and he approached us,” said Corey Eagan, Funeral Director/Owner of Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home. “In the last six months we kind of sped the process up and he wanted to retire at the first of September, which was officially when we took over.”
Eagan said the funeral home will offer the same services as before.
“We may offer a few little things that may be different than what they offered before, stuff that we do that they didn’t do before,” added Eagan.
Lori McCollum will continue to work at the business and Eric Eagan will work there as the Funeral Director/Manager. Corey added he will be there at times whenever he can get over to Paris.
There have been some renovations to the building to try and modernize the look, such as painting inside, painting the awnings outside, and upgrading some of the furniture.
Eagan said the Paris community is similar to Shelbina and he is looking forward to the opportunity.
“We’re excited to be in the community and serving the people of Monroe County, including Paris, Madison, and the surrounding communities,” stated Eagan. “We know a lot of good people over there and we’re excited to be over there and part of the community.”
Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Homes now own funeral homes in Shelbina, Clarence, Macon, New Cambria, Atlanta, Salisbury, Huntsville and Paris.
“We started in 1952 with Pete Greening and Virgil Greening. We’re a third generation continuing what they started,” stated Eagan. “Hopefully, make them and Ralph (Corey’s father) proud that were continuing the tradition.”
