The North Shelby Board of Education met in regular session on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library.
Present were: Board President, Scot Shively, Board Vice President, Shawn McEwen, Joshlin Yoder, Brandy Uhlmeyer, Amy Presson, Ryan Wiley, Travis Belt, Superintendent Dr. Tinna Croy, High School Principal Landon Daniel, Elementary Principal Jennifer Rich and Board Secretary Ashley Dunn. Others present were: Chris Beach, James Dunn, Katie Wiley and John Pisarkiewicz, representative of LJ Hart.
The meeting was called to order by Board President, Scot Shively.
Joshlin Yoder moved to approve the agenda as presented. Travis Belt seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
Program Evaluations:
Dr. Tinna Croy gave an update on the school’s transportation program.
Consent Agenda
Joshlin Yoder moved to approve the consent agenda items as presented. Shawn
McEwen seconded. Motion carried. Regular and Executive minutes from November 15, 2023 and Special Meeting minutes from November 30, 2023 were approved.
Calendar
Dr. Croy gave an update of events that will be taking place once we get back from Christmas
break. Discussion on the Sophie Cunningham Classic was had.
Old Business
LJ Hart representative John Pisarkiewicz gave a presentation on ballot language for the levy.
New Business
Joshlin Yoder moved to increase the operating tax levy by $1.20 for the April 2,
2024 election. Travis Belt seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Joshlin Yoder moved to accept the ballot language for Proposition Raiders as
follows. Brandy Uhlmeyer seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Proposition Raiders: Shall the Board of Education of the North Shelby School District,
Missouri, be authorized to increase the operating tax levy by $1.2000 to $5.1019 per one hundred dollars of assessed valuation for the purposes of attracting and retaining quality certified and support staff.
Joshlin Yoder moved to approve the 2022-2023 audit. Ryan Wiley seconded the
motion. Motion carried.
Jennifer Rich gave an update on the Comprehensive Literacy Plan.
Travis Belt moved to approve the Comprehensive Literacy Plan as presented.
Ryan Wiley seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Superintendent’s Report
Dr. Croy shared the preliminary APR/MSIP 6 report. An update on track equipment was shared.
An update on the Career Ladder program was given. Dr. Croy has filed the application for the Get the Lead Out reimbursement. Several people have given compliments on the upgrades to the high school gym lighting. The auction on the climbing wall playground equipment has closed.
Joshlin Yoder made a motion to enter Executive Session. Brandy Uhlmeyer seconded. Vote as follows: Shawn McEwen – yes, Joshlin Yoder – yes, Brandy Uhlmeyer – yes, Amy Presson – yes, Travis Belt – yes, Ryan Wiley – yes, Scot Shively – yes. Motion passed 7-0.
