Glenn Eugene “Gene” Wood
Glenn Eugene “Gene” Wood, age 86, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at his home near Bethel, MO.
Gene was born December 7, 1937 in Shelbina, MO, the son of John Milton and Isyl Alberta (Christman) Wood. He was united in marriage to Mary Louise Jackson on November 14, 1959 in St. Louis, MO. She preceded him in death on April 8, 2023.
He is survived by his two sons, John Wood (Cindy) of Wentzville, MO, and Jeffrey Wood (Jane) of St. Peters, MO; three grandchildren, Hunter Wood, Amanda Wood, and Jenna Wood; one brother-in-law, Ronald Jackson (Susan) of Florida; and nieces and nephews, Wendeline, Danny, Cindy, Becky, and Joann.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mary; infant daughter, Mary Jean Wood; brothers, Basil and Wendell Wood; and one sister, Marguerite Boster.
Gene was a member of the Masonic Lodge-Bridgeton #80AF and the LaBelle First Christian Church. He owned and operated The Wood Company as a plumber for over 40 years. Gene enjoyed farming, hunting, and had multiple antique collections.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at 10 am at the Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, MO. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 from 5 pm to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in the LaBelle Cemetery in Labelle, MO, following the service. Memorials may be made to the LaBelle First Christian Church or Shiloh Cemetery.
