Lady Raiders Take Second in NS Tournament

A run in the seventh inning cost the Lady Raiders the North Shelby Tournament championship as they lost to Paris 2-1 on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
NS vs. Bevier
The Lady Raiders (6-3) won big over Bevier in the first round of the tournament, 11-1.
Bevier was the first to score in the first inning.
North Shelby’s Clara Uhlmeyer singled on a ground ball to shortstop. She then stole to second base and then advanced to third on a defensive indifference.
Addy Uhlmeyer doubled on a fly ball to left field bringing in Clara Uhlmeyer. The game was tied 1-1.
Harper Copenhaver’s double to center field gave NS a 2-1 advantage.
To end the inning, Copenhaver stole on a passed ball giving the Lady Raiders a 3-1 lead.
NS scored in the third inning after Clara Uhlmeyer scored on a passed ball. Addy Uhlmeyer advanced to third base on the same pitch. Isabell Jones advanced to second.
Adrien Wiley hit a ground ball and reached on an error by first baseman. She advanced to second on the same error. Addy Uhlmeyer and Jones crossed homeplate and the Lady Raiders took a 6-1 lead.
Emma Christine singled after a fly ball to left field which brought in Wiley. NS led 7-1.
Emme Jones and Clara Uhlmeyer each singled. Addy Uhlmeyer doubled on a ground ball to left field bringing in Emma Jones and Clara Uhlmeyer. Ending the inning, NS held a 10-1 advantage. They would earn their last run in the fifth inning.
Clara Uhlmeyer and Addy Uhlmeyer each had three of the 11 hits NS captured. Addy Uhlmeyer had three RBIs.
Clara Uhlmeyer struck out eight batters in the game and only walked one.
Lady Raiders vs. Mark Twain
NS took down Mark Twain to advance to the championship game in a 7-6 walk off victory. The game was tied in the bottom of the seventh when Isabell Jones hit a sacrifice fly bringing in a Lady Raider.
Mark Twain got on the board in the first inning.
Emme Jones doubled on a fly ball to right field. Clara Uhlmeyer was then hit by a pitch. Addy Uhlmeyer was up to bat and doubled on a fly ball to left field bring Jones and Clara Uhlmeyer across the plate. NS led 2-1.
The Lady Raiders (7-3) took a 3-1 lead after Harper Copenhaver’s single which brought in Addy Uhlmeyer.
Mark Twain added a run to the board in the third inning and tied things up in the fifth inning 3-3 after a Lady Tiger singled on a bunt to third baseman and brought in the runner on third base.
They took the lead after a player hit a ground ball and reached on an error by the Lady Raiders which would bring in a run. They led 4-3.
Jones singled on a line drive to center field. Clara Uhlmeyer grounded out to second base and Jones would advance home tying the game, 4-4.
Addy Uhlmeyer would get walked and Isabell Jones was hit by a pitch.
Mark Twain took the lead back in the sixth inning after hitting a line drive to center field and a Lady TIger would come home.
After a drop on third strike Emelia Flores would score in the sixth inning which tied the game, 5-5. Mark Twain took back the lead in the seventh inning but wouldn’t keep it for long.
Clara Uhlmeyer singled on a bunt to third base. She then advanced to second on the throw. Emme Jones would score tying the game. Addy Uhlmeyer was intentionally walked. Isabella Jones sacrifice fly to left field would bring Clara Uhlmeyer home and the Lady Raiders would advance to the championship game.
Emme Jones led the Lady Raiders with two hits. Clara Uhlmeyer, Addy Uhlmeyer, Copenhaver and Adrien Wiley each had one hit.
Addy Uhlmeyer had 10 strike outs. She only walked three batters.
NS vs. Paris
The Lady Raiders (8-4) would lose to the Lady Coyotes in a heartbreaking ending after a hit in the bottom of the sixth by Paris would bring in a run winning 2-1.
NS outhit Paris six to three. Adrien Wiley led the Lady Raiders with two hits.
Emme Jones grounded out, which helped tie the game in the top of fourth inning.
The Lady Raiders had six hits in the game. Wiley had two while, Clara Uhlmeyer, Addy Uhlmeyer and Isabelle Jones had one hit.
Addy Uhlmeyer struck out five batters and only walked one.
