Gerald Lewis Maddex
Gerald Lewis Maddex, 70, of Shelbyville, Mo., passed away March 5, 2025 at Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, Mo.
Jerry was born March 17, 1954 in Hannibal, to Ernest Eugene “Slim” and Theresa Ann (Ford) Maddex. He was united in marriage to Lovetta Gay Keltner on November 26, 1978 in Orofino, Idaho. She preceded him in death on September 30, 2007.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gene and David; and brother-in-law, Tommy Anderson.
He is survived by his two daughters, Maggie Jackson of Shelbyville, and Molly Maddex of Eugene, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Jonah and Josie Jackson of Shelbyville, Ethan Lanpher of Hagers Grove, Mo., Audrie Fletcher of Columbia, Mo., Andrew Elrod of St. Louis, Mo., Lainey Spears of St. Louis, and Bryson Brown of Ore.; his siblings, Bob Maddex (Cindy) of Troy, Mo., Don Maddex (Marva) of Lentner, Mo., Joyce Shepherd of Austin, Texas, and Ernie Maddex (Beverly) of Shelbyville; sister-in-law, Susan Gough of Shelbina, Mo.; and his significant other of 17 years, Trudy Sorentino.
Jerry was a 1972 graduate of South Shelby High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1972-1973 where he repaired F-4 airplanes. He enjoyed working, traveling, and hunting. His greatest joy came from seeing his grandchildren play sports, playing games with his family, especially Yahtzee, and watching birds.
Memorial services were held at 1 pm on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, with Bob and Cindy Maddex officiating. A memorial visitation preceded the service from 12 p.m. to 1 pm on Monday. Inurnment will be held in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, Mo.
