Well, according to the April calendar and my sending my letter to the Courier, most people will receive this the first of May. Time slips by when you are super busy with people and activities.
The second week of this month was busy with my making and baking 22 dozen cookies for our Northeast District Square Dance held in Brookfield. I have been doing this for about 15 years; molasses, peanut butter, snickerdoodles, oatmeal raisin, and choc. chip. They do not last long after being placed on the table.
On Easter Sunday my mind went back to 1966, as Burl asked me and my five children to marry him and of course I said yes. The annual Easter Egg Hunt was held at the Clarence Lake, so we took the kids, as well as many parents did. Some of you will remember this as the night before nearly three inches of snow covered the ground. It was a good thing the eggs were colored! You talk about wet children and adults, WOW! This year Easter egg hunts were held inside due to the rain, like 3-3 ½ inches.
Has anyone noticed the operating changes in our local Post Office? If my memory serves me right as I write this, we lost 30 minutes in the a.m. and p.m. We just need to be thankful we have our Post Office.
We have been saddened recently with the passing of two prominent Clarence citizens, Jack Wood and Ardith Simpson. I’m sure I have missed saying anything about others, but I was personally acquainted with both for many many, years. In fact, when I was 12 or 13 years of age, I helped clean for Ardith on several Saturdays.
I truly enjoyed last week’s article from Phyllis Murray on her stay in the Clarence Care Center. Being an employee of CCC for 22 ½ years, I can and will say it’s the best.
Well folks, I am saving the best news for last. On Tuesday 22nd I became a great-great-grandmother of a little boy named Clarence Allen Brucker. My heart keeps so full of blessings.
Clarence City wide garage sales are on May 10th. It cost $5.00 to get your name and location on the map; surely one can make this up on sales.
Remember, life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.
