Weldon Lee Mersman, age 84, of Shelbyville, MO, passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.
Weldon was born July 14, 1940 in Hannibal, MO, the son of Theodore Albert and Henrietta (Schroder) Mersman. He was united in marriage to Donna Sue Kiser on June 3, 1962 in Epworth, MO. They celebrated 62 years. She survives.
He is also survived by his children, Tony Mersman (Jeanine) of Shelbyville, MO, Susan Marrs (Jerry) of Bethany, MO, and Scott Mersman of Leonard, MO; five grandchildren, Tyler Mersman, (Ashley), Kaitlyn Fralin (Tyler), Danielle Hayden (Rob), Zachary Hayden, and Nicholas Marrs; one great-grandson on the way; one brother, Keith Mersman (Martha) of Hunnewell, MO; and one nephew, Ted Mersman of Shelbyville, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Gerald Mersman.
Weldon was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and the Watershed Program. He was a lifelong farmer, though he worked at University Hospital as a certified orthotist and prosthetist in Columbia, MO and for the Shelby County Bridge Crew for a time. Weldon enjoyed farming, hunting, reading, and gardening. He also loved to travel and visit with his family. Most of all, he cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 2pm at Shelby Memorial Cemetery in Shelbyville, MO. Memorials may be made to Neighbors Helping Neighbors, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the Wounded Warrior Project.
