Wood’s Steakhouse officially opened its doors on May 8, 2025, with the goal of filling what its owners felt was a long-missing need in the community. The restaurant is located in Clarence at 100 N. Grand Street.
The restaurant is owned by Lee and Debbie Wood, lifelong residents of Clarence. Debbie brings a wealth of experience in the food service industry, having previously owned Fletcher’s for three years. She began her restaurant career at age 15 as a waitress and later worked at a café in Leonard for three years.
“We wanted something for the people of Clarence,” Debbie said. “We are passionate about this community.”
Head Chef Brandon Tonnies brings many years of experience to the business. Tonnies used to have his own restaurant in Shelbyville for four years. He also has an extensive background in culinary. Brandon also worked with Debbie at the nursing home in Clarence.
“I worked with Brandon at the nursing home and saw firsthand his potential,” Debbie said. “His skills in the kitchen are a perfect fit for what we envisioned.”
Wood’s Steakhouse offers a distinctive menu, including house-smoked wings, marinated Ahi tuna steak, and a signature appetizer: a smoked cream cheese block. The restaurant serves prime rib on the first Saturday of each month, while the third Saturday features a “Chef’s Choice” special.
The steakhouse is open Thursday through Saturday from 4 to 9 p.m., with the bar remaining open until 10 p.m. Customers are encouraged to follow the restaurant’s Facebook page for weekly specials and updates.
