A Shelbina man has been arrested and charged with felony financial exploitation following an investigation launched earlier this month by the Shelbina Police Department. Jacob D. Kringle, 52, was arrested Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
According to a release from the department, officers began investigating a possible fraud case on June 4, 2025, after a concerned citizen reported that they believed they may have been victimized. During the investigation, police uncovered evidence of illegal activity and identified a suspect.
The results of the investigation were forwarded to Shelby County Prosecuting Attorney Jordan Force for review. On June 24, a felony complaint was filed in the Circuit Court of Shelby County, and Associate Circuit Judge Mike Greenwell issued an arrest warrant for Jacob D. Kringle on one count of Class C Felony Financial Exploitation of an Elderly or Disabled Person.
Kringle was taken into custody by Shelbina officers in the 100 block of East Walnut Street. He was transported to the Shelby County Jail, where he is being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
Shelbina Police Chief Jeff Brown urges any citizen who believes they may have been a victim of fraudulent activity to contact the Shelbina Police Department or their local law enforcement agency.
All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
