Baptist Homes and Healthcare Ministries assumed ownership of Salt River Community Care (SRCC) on January 1, 2025, and are in charge of the daily operation, but the Salt River Community Board has yet to be dissolved because of a legal matter.
“Because there is pending legal business involving SRCC that occurred before January 1, 2025, the board must stay in operation,” said Board Chair Jerry Myers. “Therefore, as required by the by-laws of SRCC, the election of two board members must take place each year. As long as these legal matters are pending, the board cannot dissolve.”
Myers indicated the board members are not part of the legal matter.
Once the legal matters are settled, then the voters of the district will be asked to dissolve the district. Those representing SRCC in these legal matters have indicated that it might take another three years before the case is settled.
