On or about December 11, 2024, the Shelbina Police Department received information in relation to a sex crime which was alleged to occur within the City Limits of Shelbina. Officer(s) with the Shelbina Police Department began an investigation.
On December 31, 2024, a search warrant was applied for and granted in relation to the investigation. Officers executed the search warrant at a home within the 500 block of West Maple Street in Shelbina, Missouri. A male resident of the home was arrested, and charges were requested.
William Christopher Widebrook, 39 of Shelbina, Missouri has been formally charged by the Shelby County Prosecutor with the following charges.
• 3 Counts of Unclassified Felony Sodomy or Attempted Sodomy-1st Degree.
• Class D Felony Tamper or Attempt to Tamper with a Victim in a Felony Prosecution.
• Class D Felony Possession of Controlled Substance.
• Class E Felony Unlawful Use of Weapon-Subsection 4-Exhibiting.
• Misdemeanor Supplying Liquor to a Minor or Intoxicated Person.
William Christopher Widebrook remains in custody at the Shelby County Jail with a no bond warrant issued by the Shelby County Associate Judge.
The Shelbina Police Department was assisted by the Child Advocacy Center of Northeast Missouri, Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Northeast Missouri Drug Task Force.
