The Shelbyville Board of Aldermen met in regular session on Monday, April 7, 2025 at city office at 6 pm. Present were Mayor Mike Vanskike, Aldermen Brad Willey, Rob Southers, Gene Boyles and James Dunn. Gina Mesmer, Randy Shores and Nathan Minear.
Mayor Vanskike opened the meeting at 6 pm.
Being there was a non-election this term City Clerk gave the oath of office to Alderman Brad Willey and James Dunn for a two-year term.
A motion was made by Alderman Willey and seconded by Alderman Dunn to approve the February and March minutes. A motion was made by Alderman Boyles and seconded by Alderman Southers. All motions passed.
A motion was made by Alderman Southers and seconded by Alderman Boyles to elect Alderman Willey for Mayor Pro-Tem. Motion passed.
The board reviewed the 1st quarter budget report.
The board reviewed a letter from Economic Development. A decision to not contribute this year was made due to budget restrictions.
The board reviewed and discussed the summer mowing applications. A motion was made by Alderman Willey and seconded by Alderman Boyles to hire Drake Prange. Motion passed.
The board discussed several properties that need cleaned up and unlicensed vehicles.
Randy talked about what street material he needed to order and what streets he would be working on. He will order 300 tons of cold mix.
Nathan talked about the UV lighting at the lagoon and issues with the breaker. He had talked with the salesman and he will be here Tuesday morning to look at it. He also discussed rebuilding a check valve and a sewer line backup over the weekend.
The next meeting will be May 5th at 6 pm.
Alderman Southers made a motion to adjourn at 6:58 pm and Alderman Willey seconded the motion.
