Shelbyville Woman Charged with Felony Forgery

A Shelbyville woman has been charged with forgery, felony d, after she cashed a check bearing a forged signature.

Barbara A. Parrish, 46, of Shelbyville, is charged in case No. 26SB-CR00060 with one count of forgery, a class D felony. She was arrested Thursday, July 2, 2026.

The charge was filed by special prosecuting attorney, Cassidy Johnston.

Court documents state between the dates of February 13 and March 3, 2026, while at the United State Bank. Parrish allegedly knowingly committed the offense of forgery by authenticating writing that it purported to have been made by another or at another time  or with authority that had not been given.

A written statement filed in the case says the alleged victim did not sign a check issued by Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance. Court documents state bank camera footage allegedly showed Parrish driving through the bank drive-through and cashing the check, which was made out in the amount of $6,386.87.

Photographs of that check with another check issued by Carrington Mortgage Services in the amount of $59,699.54, along with a written statement containing the alleged victim’s signature. Court documents state the signatures did not match.

Parrish was held on a $10,000 cash only bond in the Shelby County Jail.

She later posted bond.

All suspects are innocent unless proven guilty in court.
