John Charles Jones

John Charles “J.C.” Jones, age 86, of Novelty, MO passed away Friday, May 1, 2020 in the Knox County Nursing Home in Edina, MO.  He was born October 23, 1933 in Novelty, MO, the son of John Rimer and Mildred Marie Killinger Jones. He was united in marriage to Gwendolyn Hazel Browning on October 19, 1952 in Shelbina. She preceded him in death on August 11, 2016.  J.C. was also preceded by his parents, one sister and brother-in-law Mary Kathryn and Richard Griffith.

Surviving are two children, John Willis (J.W.) Jones of Novelty, MO and Jonette Jay Guinty and her friend Dan Boren of Novelty, MO; two grandchildren, Jachelle Nicole (Jason) Barry of Eldon, MO and Kaelyn Leigh Guinty of North Kansas City, MO; one great-grandson, Jackson W. Barry; four nieces and nephews, Donna Kay (Jim) Belt of Leonard, MO, Ray (Patricia) Griffith of Novelty, MO, Tresia Griffith of Columbia, MO, and Ruth Ann (Bim) Parsons of Leonard, MO and several great-nieces and nephews.

J.C. graduated from Novelty High School and attended college in Kirksville, MO.  He served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957.      

J.C. was employed for several years as a food inspector for the U.S. Government.  J.C. and his wife lived in Novelty, MO, then moved to Blue Springs, MO and later to New Orleans for a year and a half, then moved back to Blue Springs before returning to Novelty in 2000.  

J.C. enjoyed hunting, especially quail, fishing and going out west with family hunting deer and elk.  J.C. also enjoyed helping J.W. do the chores with his dog (Haj) on the Gator.  He enjoyed participating in baseball and basketball while growing up and was also a devoted Cardinals and Royals fan.

J.C. was a member of the Novelty Christian Church and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

J.C. was devoted to taking care of his wife Gwendolyn after her stroke for 13 years and is now going to be with her again.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2020 in the Locust Hill Cemetery.  Reverend Paul Milliken officiated the services. There was no visitation.

Casket bearers were to be Curt Franke, Karl Franke, Joe Simmons, Rex Franke, Wayne Ray, Paul Anderson, Jamie McWilliams and Von Snow.

Honorary bearers were to be Harold Foreman, Gerald Perry, Wesley Parsons and Randy Perry.
