Billy Gene Moore

Billy Moore, 94, of Shelbina passed away peacefully Sunday, May 31, 2020 at Salt River Community Care in Shelbina.

Billy was born in Paris, Missouri on April 7, 1926, the son of Henry Eugene and Hazel Irene Sanders Moore. He was united in marriage to Mary Irene Maupin on April 30, 1948 in Palmyra.. She preceded him in death on July 6, 1991.

Billy was a graduate of Shelbina High School and spent most of his life as a farmer in Shelby County. He served stateside in the Air Force during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Shelbina Christian Church, the Shelbina Masonic Lodge and NEMO Shriners.

Billy was on the Farmers Mutual Insurance Company Board of Directors for 43 years and retired serving as the company’s agent. He served several terms as Shelby County Presiding Judge and was an active member of the Shelby County Democratic Party. He loved spending time with his family and friends, golfing, traveling and working on the farm.

He is survived by two children, Joanne Bradley (David) of North Ridgeville, OH, and James Moore (Pat) of Bowling Green; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, Robert Moore of Marshfield, MO, dear friend Fran Wingate of Paris and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one sister, Louise, and one brother, James.

Due to COVID-19, a private graveside service will be held.
