Shelbina Police Department Releases Results of Click It or Ticket Enforcement

Shelbina Police Department – The Shelbina Police Department participated in Missouri’s 2020 Click It or Ticket mobilization conducted May 18-31. During the enforcement effort, officers issued a total of 37 traffic tickets and warnings.

“Seat belts are your singe best defenses in a crash,” stated Captain Cole Hinshaw. “Law enforcement will continue to encourage drivers to make a simple, smart choice to always buckle up and Arrive Alive.”

Six out of 10 people killed in 2019 Missouri traffic crashes were unbuckled. Missouri’s seat belt use has shown significant improvement in the last three years, but the state remains just below the national average in usage. Missouri has an 87.7 percent seatbelt use while the national average is 90 percent. Teams and pick-up truck drivers are among those least likely to buckle up at 73.8 and 72.1 percent, respectively.
