Woman Killed in Auto Crash

  A two-vehicle collision Sunday Dec. 6 resulted in the death of 75-year-old Shelbina resident Cecelia R. Kendrick. The accident occurred at 12:47 p.m.

  According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Kendrick was eastbound on U.S. 36 ¾ of a mile west of Hannibal when she lost control of her 2003 Toyota Corolla.

  Kendrick’s car traveled across the highway median and into the path of a westbound 2021 Volvo VNL760 driven by Jason C. Johnson, 36, of Hampshire, Ill.

  Kendrick was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:40 p.m. by Marion County coroner Rick Jones. Kendrick was not wearing a safety device. The body was taken to Smith Funeral Home.

  Johnson, who was wearing a seat belt, was not reported to have been injured.

  The MSHP Major Crash Investigation Unit responded to the scene. It was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department, Hannibal Police Dept., Hannibal City Fire Dept. and Marion County Ambulance.

  The accident was the 27th vehicle-related fatality in Troop B’s jurisdiction this year.
