More than a year ago, Leonard-area landowner Edra Beach came across some stationary that attracted her attention.
“I just filled the application out and sent it in,” Mrs. Beach said last week.
Beach’s entry was selected for a $2,500 America’s Farmers Grow Communities donation, sponsored by Bayer Fund, to North Shelby Future Farmers of America.
According to a press release, the funds will benefit the Agriculture Future of America (AFA) scholarship program.
“There was a lady who interviewed me. I would say it was last spring, maybe even in winter,” Beach recalled. “I guess we got interested in the program because we had grandkids who were in North Shelby FFA.”
“For over 20 years, Edra has been dedicated to supporting the North Shelby community paving the way for 35 local scholars,” AFA president and CEO Mark Stewart said in a prepared statement. “We are incredibly thankful for Edra’s support as we model being of service to others and building bridges for students to opportunities.”
“I’m pleased it went were it did and will do young people some good,” Beach said.
