North Shelby No. 4 seed beat Canton No. 5 in the first round of the La Plata Tournament on Monday, Feb. 1, 61-54.
North Shelby’s Brendyn McDaniel had a game high of 21 points. J.D. Rich had 17.
The Raiders (10-6) had seven 3’s in the game. McDaniel scored four, Rich claimed two and Robert Uhlmeyer had one.
The Tigers had a 28-27 lead at the half.
North Shelby outscored the Tigers 19-10 in the third period. Canton scored 16 points in the fourth quarter. Twelve of those were 3’s.
The Raiders were 12 for 18 from the free throw line. Kyle Smith was 7 for 10 from the line.
NS is scheduled to take on Class 2 No. 1 seed Cairo (17-1) tonight at 4:30 p.m.
