The official start of spring on Saturday, March 20 was preceded by an approximate 48-hour period of rain-shower activity Wednesday and Thursday.
Route N at North Fork Salt River north of Lentner was closed Wednesday due to flooding. Thursday, Route DD west of Maud was closed at Otter Creek as was Route K west of Shelbyville at Black Creek.
Two inches of rain were reported by a Leonard farmer; 2.7 at a farm just east of Bethel. A resident south of Shelbina had a reading of 2.5 and 3.2 inches fell at a farm north of Lakenan. A homeowner in Clarence indicated that dating back to Monday, 3.98 dropped in the gauge.
