The North Shelby School Board met in regular and executive session on May 19 in the high school library; all members were present. The meeting opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Regular Session:
The board approved the consent agenda which consisted of the month’s bills and the previous month’s minutes – 7-0. The presentation from LJ Hart about the district’s position for a “no tax” bond issue in April 2022 was moved to the June meeting.
Executive Session:
The board accepted the resignations of Kaitlyn Mersman as an elementary paraprofessional and Michaela Rich as an elementary teacher.
The board interviewed and voted to hire David Stuckey as a social studies/PE teacher and the head football coach. All members voted yes in the roll call vote.
Donny Williams was hired as the varsity girls’ head softball coach. All members voted yes in the roll call vote.
The board hired Kelly McEwen as the Parents As Teacher educator. The roll call vote was 6-0-1; Shawn McEwen abstained.
Houston Bichsel was assigned as the co-sponsor of FCA by a roll call vote of 7-0. The district is still seeking a junior high/high school English teacher for the 2021-22’ school year.
