Information released by Shelbina Police Department
At approximately 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021, Shelby County Dispatch notified the Shelbina Police Department of an unknown disturbance call in the 500 block of South Center Street. Upon the officer’s arrival, it was found that a 29-year-old male had been shot in the right thigh area of his body.
The officer rendered first aid, requesting further assistance from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and Salt River Ambulance District.
The officer and deputies assisted Salt River Ambulance personnel in stabilizing the patient for transport. The patient was transported to the landing zone at the Shelby County Fairgrounds for transport by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
The investigation revealed that there was an accidental discharge of the firearm causing injury to the male. At this time the male’s medical condition is not known.
No further information will be released at this time.
