Norbert Eldon Buswell
Norbert Eldon Buswell, 77, of Payson, Ill., formerly of Newark, Mo., passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, in White Hall Nursing Home in White Hall, Ill. He was born November 8, 1944, in Newark, the son of Jennings Eldon and Zylpha Lorena Reamy Buswell.
Norbert attended schools in Newark, and graduated from Novelty High School. He also attended Gem City Business College in Quincy. Norbert was employed for several companies including Tenk Hardware, E.L. Smith and Company, Gardner Denver and E Best Plumbing and Heating all of Quincy. Norbert served several years on the Village board at Payson, Ill. from 1977 to 2013. The last 12 years as mayor. He attended several churches including Newark Baptist Church, Assembly of God Camp Point, Bethel Assembly of God, Faith Assembly of God, and River of Life Church all of Quincy, Shelbina Baptist Church and the Payson Southern Baptist Church, Payson. Norbert was an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed various other sports.
Surviving is one son Norvin Ray Buswell of Payson, and numerous cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Monday, January 31, with visitation held one hour before services in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. Reverend John Gross officiated the services. Burial was in the Newark Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Allen Hatfield, Jeffery Lay, Keith Stokes, Donald Buswell, Darrell Buswell and Duane Hall.
