David Lynn Werr

David Lynn Werr, 67, passed away on Monday, February 21, 2022, at his home in Shelbyville, Mo.

David was born April 7, 1954, in Fort Carson, Colo., the son of Kenneth Leroy and Betty Ann (Ralls) Werr. He was united in marriage to Sandy Hoeh on April 8, 1978 in Cape Girardeau. She survives.

He is also survived by his two children, Andrew Werr (Jennifer) of Overland Park, Kan. and Stacey Grant (Alan) of Wentzville; four grandchildren, Landon Grant, Grayson Grant, Matthew Werr and Chloe Bromell; siblings, Rhonda Mueller (Art) of Wentzville, Larry Werr (Nan) of Monroe City, and Linda Pedersen (Jim) of Blue Springs.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David was a member of Mt. Hope Lutheran Church until it closed in 2015 and served as an elder for many years. He was most recently a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Macon. He served as Chairman of the board for the Shelby County Health Department for 25 years, and was a member of the Shelbyville Jaycees and Civics Club. David’s passion was sports. He umpired high school baseball and softball games for 38 years. He was proud to have been selected to call at the state level several times. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Mizzou Tigers fan. David loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially when he was able to play ball with them or watch them compete.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 26, at Zion Lutheran Church, with Pastor Elden Kohn officiating. Burial followed the service in Mt. Hope Lutheran Cemetery near Lentner.

Visitation was held Friday, February 25, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral home in Shelbina.
