Dorothy Harder
Dorothy Harder, 97, of Leonard, passed away Monday, August 29, 2022, in the Clarence Care Center in Clarence.
She was born November 4, 1924, in Shelby, County, the daughter of George Edward and Nellie Pearl Miles Beach. She was united in marriage to Charles Dale Harder on June 1, 1947, at Cherry Box, and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2005. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Karen Harder and one sister Nellie Ann Dodd.
Surviving are four children, Loren (Jane) Harder of Leonard, Byron (Linda) Harder of Novelty, MO, Marlena (Terry) Kelso of Downing, MO, and Rejeana (David) Rutter of Jefferson, Oreg, 12 grandchildren, Stacy (Kathi) Harder, Sonya Garrison, Anita (Jeff) Smith, Carrie (Curt) Greenwell, Jennifer Bryant, Dana (Candi) Harder, Gregory Harder, Scott (Vera) Thrasher, Deric Thrasher, DeAnn (Jeremy) O’Bryan, Alyssa Rutter and Joshua (Alexis) Rutter, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy and her husband were life long residence of the Leonard community where they were engaged in farming. She graduated from Leonard High School and received her teaching certificate from Northeast MIssouri State Teachers College in Kirksville now Truman State University. Prior to her marriage she taught school at Bethel School and Oak Hill School in Cherry Box. Dorothy enjoyed quilting, weaving rugs, cooking, being a farm wife and spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina. Reverend Reese Blaine will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Church of The Brethren Cemetery at Cherry Box. Musical selections will be The Last Mile Of The Way and The Old Rugged Cross.
Visitation will be held FridaySeptember 2, 2022, from 12 noon until time of services at 2 p.m. at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.
Casket bearers will be Stacy harder, Ben Harder, Deric Thrasher, Dana Harder, Gregory Harder, Jacob Bryant and Nat Harder.
Memorials are suggested to the Church of The Brethren and Mt. Pisgah Mennonite Cemetery.
