The North Shelby Tournament was held Saturday, September 17, 2022.
For the third consecutive year, the Lady Raiders claimed the title.
Championship Game vs. Paris
Natalie Thrasher shut down Paris, throwing a complete game shutout and leading NS to a 12-0 victory.
NS tallied six runs in the third inning. The Lady Raiders big bats were led by Chesnie Robbins, Thrasher, Caroline Linberger, Harper Copenhaver, and Ava Williams, who each had RBIs in the inning.
A single by R Sutton in the fifth inning was a positive for Paris.
Thrasher earned the victory on the rubber for NS. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on three hits over seven innings, striking out ten and walking zero.
Paris’s pitcher surrended 12 runs on 16 hits over seven innings, striking out three and walking zero.
The Lady Raiders saw the ball well today, racking up 16 hits in the game. Addy Uhlmeyer, Linberger, Marissa McEwen, Ceairra Kirby, Copenhaver, and Thrasher each had multiple hits for NS. Uhlmeyer went 4-for-5 at the plate to lead North Shelby in hits. The Lady Raiders didn’t commit a single error in the field. McEwen had ten chances in the field, the most on the team.
NS vs. Mark Twain
North Shelby defeated Mark Twain in the first game of the tournament.
Caroline Linberger was dialed in at the plate on Saturday, tallying four hits and leading the Lady Raiders to a 13-3 win over Mark Twain. Linberger singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the fifth.
Mark Twain scored three runs in the fourth inning, but NS still managed to pull out the victory.
North Shelby Raiders Varsity opened up scoring in the first inning. Chesnie Robbins drove in one when she tripled.
North Shelby scored five runs in the third inning. NS offense in the inning was led by Linberger, Copenhaver, Williams and Riley Stoneburner, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Thrasher led things off in the pitcher’s circle for NS. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing two hits and zero runs while striking out three and walking zero.
Boling was in the circle for Mark Twain. The hurler surrendered 13 runs on 16 hits over four and a third innings, walking zero.
The Lady Raiders socked one home run on the day. Copenhaver put one out in the fourth inning.
NS collected 16 hits on the day. Linberger, Robbins, Stoneburner, Copenhaver, and Uhlmeyer each collected multiple hits for the Lady Raiders Linberger went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead North Shelby Raiders Varsity in hits.
Lady Raiders vs. Van Far
NS took down Van Far in the second round the tournament.
Uhlmeyer threw a shutout to lead NS by past Van far 16-0.
North Shelby secured the victory thanks to 11 runs in the second inning. The Lady Raiders offense in the inning was led by Thrasher, Williams, Ceairra Kirby, Uhlmeyer, Linberger, and Copenhaver, all driving in runs in the inning.
Uhlmeyer got the win for North Shelby. The pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over three innings, striking out two and walking one.
NS racked up 18 hits in the game. Linberger, Copenhaver, Uhlmeyer, Williams, and Thrasher all collected multiple hits. Copenhaver and Linberger each collected three hits to lead North Shelby. The Lady Raiders stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Stoneburner led the way with two. North Shelby was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Marissa McEwen made the most plays with two.
