Charla Ann Broughton

  Charla Ann Broughton, 80, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, January 26, 2023, at her home in Shelbina, Mo.

  Charla was born October 19, 1942, in Shelbina, the daughter of Claude Pearl and Anna Lois (Blackford) Tyner. She was united in marriage to George Raymond Broughton on October 25, 1960, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shelbina, Missouri. He survives.

  She is also survived by her three children, Joe Broughton (Belinda) of Monroe City, Mo., Audrey Gough (Mark) Shelbina, Cathy Fifer (Gary) of Shelbina; eight grandchildren, Kylie Trenhaile (Brian), Arielle Million (Harlan) Macey Winsor (Trace), Adrianna Walker (Elton), Zeke Broughton, Bryce Fifer, Bryant Fifer, and Brock Fifer; three great-grandchildren, Henley Walker, Bria Trenhaile, and Maryn Trenhaile; two sisters, Marchelle Shultz of Centralia, Mo. and Yvonne Gregory (Terry) of Shelbina, MO; and two brothers, Dennis Tyner of Shelbina, and E.C. Tyner of Neb.

  Charla was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Lloyd Shultz.

  Charla was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Mary’s Altar Society, Chapter M. PEO, a past youth leader for the 4-H club, a 49er’s member, and had been a director and teacher for CCD at St. Mary’s for many years. She was a very talented seamstress and loved to garden and work in the yard with her flowers. Charla and George spent the winter months in Florida where they made many friends from across the country. She enjoyed dancing and always said age was just a number.

  Charla’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Shelbina, Mo. Rosary service will begin at 4:30 pm. on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Greening- Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina, followed by the visitation from 5 to 8 p.m.. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Shelbina.
