The basement at the Teen Center in Shelbyville has had standing water in it for many years which has caused many problems. Foundation Recovery Systems, of Moberly, began construction on Thursday, March 9, 2023. The work was completed the following day.
According to Board Member Tom Plumb, the Teen Center has tried different things to find a solution to the problem. A little over a month ago, Foundation Recovery came and gave a recommendation and bid about how to fix the issue.
“All the water that would come into the basement cavity either through the walls or wherever would go into a drainage system, that would go into a sump pump which would pump outside away from the building,” according to Plumb.
“It is a lifetime guarantee that basement will stay dry,” Plumb continued, “If anything goes wrong with the sump pump, they will come in and replace it.”
The update will cost approximately $9,900.
