Joe and Vonda Berti have recently opened “Berti’s Nest,” a newly remodeled red barn, north of Shelbina just off Highway 15. The barn can be used for weddings/receptions, reunions, showers or meetings. The possibilities are endless.
The Bertis have owned the property for nearly 10 years and have been remodeling it for the past two.
The first thing they cleaned up after purchasing the property was the pond and brush.
The Berti’s family liked gathering at the barn and even held multiple Easters there.
When the Bertis travel, they like to stay at Airbnb, and Shelby County didn’t have anything like that.
Instead of letting the barn just sit there when it wasn’t being used for their own family events, they decided to go further into remodeling and open Berti’s Nest.
A lot of work was done on their own but Joe and Vonda had help along the way.
“Steve Fahle came in with his crew and had many good ideas. He is a worker and really helped us,” said Vonda.
The two-story barn holds a queen, two full size futons and two twin beds with plenty of space to accommodate more. The venue has a full bathroom and kitchen. Guests can also enjoy a pond along with a spacious outdoor area.
