Shelby County Man Arrested for Sodomy, Rape

A Shelby County man is being charged with multiple felony counts of statutory sodomy, statutory rape and forcible rape.
Faren J. Lindsey, 46, of Shelbyville, was indicted by a Grand Jury and an arrest warrant was issued and the Shelby County Sheriff’s Department took Lindsey into custody and transported him to the Macon County Jail on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.
Lindsey is accused of committing three Class C felonies on three separate occasions including statutory sodomy in the second degree, deviate sexual intercourse with a protected victim, and statutory rape in the second degree. The crimes are alleged to have happened on or between July 1, 1999, and September 30, 1999, in Adair County.
The protected victim was allegedly less than 17 years old, and Lindsey was allegedly 21, at the time, according to the Circuit Court of Adair County Grand Jury Indictment filed by Adair Prosecuting Attorney David Goring.
Court documents also state that Lindsey allegedly committed a Class C felony of statutory rape in the second degree, by allegedly having sexual intercourse. The crime is alleged to have happened on or between November 24, 1999, and November 27, 1999, in Adair County. The protected victim allegedly was less than 17 years old, and Lindsey was allegedly 21.
The indictment also states on or between December 4, 1999, and January 31, 2000, in Adair County, Lindsey allegedly knowingly had sexual intercourse with a protected victim allegedly by the use of forcible compulsion.
Lindsey is being charged in with three counts of Statutory Sodomy – 2nd Degree, one count of Statutory Rape – 2nd Degree and Forcible Rape – Sexual Intercourse by Forcible Compulsion – Felony Unclassified in case No. 23AR-CR01153. The charges are filed by Adair County Prosecuting Attorney David Goring.
Lindsey is being held in the Macon County Sheriff’s Department on a $75,000 cash only bond.
Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
