North Shelby’s Head Coach Chris Parsons earned his 300th career win after the Lady Raiders defeated Atlanta on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
Parsons began his coaching career at Smith-Cotton in Sedalia. He served as Junior High Assistant, Head Jr. High and JV Boys Coach from 1998-2005.
The relationships Parsons has made over the years is what he cherishes the most.
‘The players and coaches that I have been lucky enough to work with have made this path unforgettable,” Parsons said.
“There are lots of wins and losses along the way, conference titles, district titles, quarterfinal appearances that I can tell you every play from, but simply being called Coach makes the greatest memories.”
He took his first head coaching job at Green Ridge coaching boys for two years.
In 2008, he coached girls at Smith-Cotton until 2012.
He landed in Palmyra in 2012 where he coached the Lady Panthers for eight years.
“I’ve been doing this for quite a while and have had the chance to hopefully positively influence several student athletes along the way on the court and towards the adults they become,” Coach Parsons said. “I wouldn’t even be close to this number had I not had the great people around me that led me down this coaching path.”
Parsons took a couple years off thinking he was finished, but then was hired at North Shelby last season.
The Lady Raiders took down the Lady Horneys, 50-18 at home on January 4.
Parsons can’t wait to continue this journey and see where it leads in the end.
“Thanks to all along the way for the support” Parsons added.
As of Friday, January 5, Parsons held a 300-132 overall record.
