The Shelbyville Board of Aldermen met in regular session Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at city office at 4 p.m. Present were Mayor Mike Vanskike, Aldermen Brad Willey, Jerry Myers and Rob Southers, Gina Mesmer and Nathan Minear. Gene Boyles and Randy Shores were absent.
The board reviewed the year end budget report and budget amendment. Alderman Willey made a motion to approve the budget amendment in the General, Water, Sewer and Street accounts. Alderman Myers seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with Alderman Willey, Myers and Southers all YEA. Alderman Boyles absent. Motion passed.
Alderman Myers made a motion to approve the December minutes and Alderman Willey seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Alderman Southers made a motion to approve the bills and Alderman Myers seconded the motion. Motion passed.
The board reviewed the Financial Statement. Alderman Myers made a motion to approve the financial statement for publication and Alderman Southers seconded the motion.
Ordinance #183 making regulations on mobile homes and manufactured homes was read once in its entirety and twice by title. Alderman Willey made a motion to approve the ordinance and Alderman Southers seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken with Aldermen Willey, Myers and Southers all YEA. Alderman Boyles was absent.
The board discussed the aging water lines and looking to grants for replacement. The first action would be to have an engineering report done. Alderman Myers made a motion to get with our engineer to start the process and get information on grants. Alderman Willey seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Alderman Myers talked about the need to find a solution for the algae at the lagoon. Nathan will look into some ideas.
The next meeting will be February 5.
Alderman Southers made a motion to adjourn at 4:37 p.m. and Alderman Myers seconded the motion.
