The North Shelby Raiders won the consolation trophy in North Shelby Tournament on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with a win against Knox County.
Raiders 70
Knox County 39
The Raiders defeated Knox County with a final score of 70-39 to win consolation.
Gabe Orr led the team with 18 points, followed by Gannon Bowen with 16 points, and Jade Daniel with 14 points.
Bowen made three buckets and a three to start off in the first period. Daniel made four shots under the basket. Orr made three buckets in the second quarter and Daniel went 5-for-6 on free throws in the second period.
Before the half, Cole Browning made a three and went 2-for-2 from the charity line.
The Raiders led 37-21 at the half.
In the second half, Orr made two three’s along with Bowen. Jay Miles made a three as well and Orr made three more buckets to help the Raiders get a bigger lead.
Miles scored another three in the fourth quarter. Gavin Parsons made two and Oren Vanskike made a bucket along with an old-fashioned three-point play.
Raiders 61
LaPlata 35
The Raiders defeated La Plata in the second round of the tournament on Thurdsy, January 18, 61-35.
Bowen had 19 points, followed by Daniel had 10 points to end the night.
In the first period, Bo Bacon went 2-for-2 from the charity line. Bowen scored a three and then got fouled on a drive to the basket. He would make it a three-point play by making his free throw. Browning scored three in the second quarter. Daniel scored two buckets and Bowen scored another four points to end the half with the Raiders leading 38-16.
After the half, Bacon scored three and Daniel scored another two shots under the basket. Browning went 2-for-2 from the free throw line as well.
In the fourth period, Orr scored two along with Miles. Bowen scored two more baskets to help the Raiders get the win.
Raiders 40
Marion County 59
The Raiders came up short to Marion County on Wednesday, January 17, in the first round of the tournament, 59-40.
TJ Belt scored two in the first quarter, and Daniel scored four points and went 2-for-2 from the free throw line.
Daniel made three more buckets in the second quarter, and Bowen also made two. This would put the Raiders still behind with the halftime score being 34-19.
Daniel made another two on the block in the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, Daniel made four points. Prange, Orr, and Bacon all made two in the fourth period, but the Raiders still came up short in the first round.
Daniel led the team in scoring 20 points and finished with 11 rebounds. Bacon and Belt followed with five points.
