The South Shelby Golf Team will have 13 players participating this spring, with only one senior returning from last year’s squad.
Jaaron Durbin, who was named First Team All CCC Golfer and was an All-State golfer, has played all four years.
“He has shown great leadership to help lead a mostly young team,” said South Shelby Coach Kevin Mitchell.
The team has been playing all summer long preparing for the season.
“We took a golf trip to the State golf course in Kansas City to show golfers what they are playing for,” said Mitchell. “Overnight trip to build team chemistry and love for each other.”
As far as expectations, Mitchell hopes to compete each match to prove they belong with the best teams in the state.
“Build experience and depth as the season goes along, hopefully finding ourselves in the hunt for Clarence Cannon Conference and District titles,” said Mitchell. “It will take hard work and effort to reach those goals.”
Mitchell said the players set goals of winning the CCC, winning District, and finishing in the top four at state.
“I appreciate the parents, community, booster club, and athletes for their hard work and dedication to South Shelby athletics,” said Mitchell.
