HEARTLAND COLUMN:

Three more men graduated from the Heartland Recovery Program last Sunday. We celebrate these milestones because committing to and sticking with a twelve-month program is not an easy decision. As one of our Group Leaders commented, though, “it’s one year of your life, for [the sake of] the rest of your life!”

Jacob, one of the graduates, shared this during his testimony: “While I was here at Heartland I met some reallygood friends. I was provided for in every way that I could imagine and then some. I felt a lot of love and care and kindness. Genuine love. But that’s not what made the change in me. What made the biggest change in my life was that when I sought God He was found, and He answered me when I called. The biggest change in my life has been taking the ‘informationship’ I had with Jesus and turning it into a ‘relationship’ with Jesus, so that in leaving here I have a firm foundation with the Creator of the Universe.”

These men put in the time and effort it took to make a real life change, and discovered first-hand that “Jesus is the answer.” It’s exciting to see that the many changes that have been made in the Recovery programs over the past few years are bearing fruit.

Recovery residents follow a structured schedule, participating in daily prayer, Bible reading, journaling, and different Biblical and spiritual discipline classes, along with serving in practical ways within and outside of Heartland. Group Leaders assist the residents in reconciling relationships, starting with phone calls and correspondence with their family, then eventually up to two campus visits per month, all while progressing through an in-depth curriculum regarding a proper order and understanding of relationships.

As they walk through all the requirements of the Program—life discipline development, Christian worldview education, devotion and self-examination, relationship reconciliation and applying what they are learning—our hope is that they allow that to go beyond just good information to become a true relationship with Jesus. That is true success!

HUNNEWELL MISSION CHURCH:

It’s a great day to be a Christian.  In fact, every day is a great day to be a Christian…to know that your sins are forgiven, that God loves you and is there to help you with life’s problems, to know that whenever the call comes you have a marvelously wonderful eternal home waiting for you in heaven and so much more.  Do you have this in your life?

Sunday School was a wee bit shy in attendance this morning but the study and fellowship was still terrific.
As usual, quite a few more came in for our worship service.  Pastor made the announcements and welcomed one and all.   Our first hymn was “Higher Ground”.  This was followed by a brief video informing us about a North American Mission Board missionary couple and their work in Florida   Carl Hill led us in our ministry of prayer time today.  Our next hymn was “Take the Name of Jesus with You”.  Robert Roland, Robert Berry, Tim Blackford and Jim Berry received the offerings today.  Ed Berry brought our special music “Lead Me to Calvary”.
Pastor’s message was “A Faith Made Whole” taken from John 4:46-54.  The passage tells about a certain nobleman whose son was dying and came to Jesus for help.  That’s the first step in having a Faith Made Whole ..coming to Jesus.  The second step is to trust and obey…the man went home to find his son healed.
We can put our faith in many things but the greatest place to put it is in Jesus the Son of God.   Once we make the decision to put our faith in Him, then we need to trust Him and be obedient to His Word.  There we can find peace, comfort, joy and much more.  Do you have a Faith Made Whole or our you still trying to “wing it” through life?
Wednesday is Bible Study night at 6.  Saturday night is a fish fry for our church family at 6 at the pavilion provided the weather is cooperative; otherwise in the fellowship hall.  Sunday School is at 9:00 with morning worship at 10:15.  We invite you to our services.  We are the little church beside the road just west of Hunnewell on Hwy. 36 eastbound.
