Alex Miller to Perform

By Marlana Smith

Alex Miller, an entertainer from rural Lancaster, Kentucky will be performing at the Clarence Homecoming again Saturday, June 15, 2024. It was one of his favorite stops last year on his Miller Time Tour.

“The people there truly were invested in my show, it felt like I was at a state fair or an arena or something like that. People whooping and hollering, and just having a good time, and when I go play anywhere that’s my goal,” Alex said. “To let people have an opportunity to turn loose of their problems and throw down on a Saturday night to some good country music. I’m thankful that I get the opportunity to do it again this June 15!”

Miller’s love for music began when he was little. It all started when he was two or three and watched the show the Wiggles. That was his first exposure to music, he had all the VHS tapes.

When Alex got older, he began watching Grand Ole Opry videos and found his love for country music. To this day, he can still sing “Big Red Car.”

His granddad, GB Miller, is the reason why he plays and sings.

“He could barely play the radio, but he loved country music,” said Alex. “He instilled that love of the music in me.”

GB would take Alex around to all these local jamborees, nursing homes and churches. Any place there was music, GB would take him and get the band to allow Alex to sing a song.

“He was a real road manager,” Alex said.

American Idol Season 19 brought Alex fame and totally changed his life in 2021.

One of his favorite memories was getting to play the Sunday Morning Country program held at the Opry House in Nashville during CMA Fest week.

“Playing on the Opry House stage was great but what made this really special was my grandad got to be there. You truly don’t understand how much he loved the Opry and what it stood for,” Alex said.

“Our goal from the day one of my singing career was to play on the Opry stage and eventually one day on the Grand Ole Opry. Little did I know that would be the last place he would ever see me play. The more I look back on it the more I realize how special of a night that really was.”

Alex’s well-received debut album, MILLER TIME, released in 2022, generated three high-impact singles. His second release, COUNTRY (2023), brought more hits: “When God Made The South,” “Girl, I Know A Guy,” and his most recent smash single, “Puttin’ Up Hay,” which spent three weeks at #1 on the CDX True Indie Chart and graced the Top 50 on the Mediabase Activator Chart.

He’s toured the State and County Fair circuit heavily (KY, MO, NY, WA, WI, IL, IN, OK, WV), and opened for Brooks & Dunn, Hank, Jr, Josh Turner, Lee Brice, Jamey Johnson, Chris Janson, Chapel Hart, Drake Milligan, Noah Thompson, Dillon Carmichael, HunterGirl, Emily Ann Roberts and Tracy Byrd.

Alex has also made sure to carve out time for his song writing, and in the last 12 months he has collaborated with hit makers Kent Blazy, Larry Cordle, Kirsti Manna, Byron Hill, Carl Jackson, Wood Newton, Emily Ann Roberts, Jerry Salley, Josh Shilling, and Bill Whyte.

Closing out a spectacular 2023, he received the American FFA Degree for excellence, the organization’s highest accolade. His third project for Billy Jam Records, “MY DADDY’S DAD,” was released April 12.
