Illinois Man Dies After Head-On Collison

A Clarence woman was seriously injured after being hit head on in an accident on MO 151, two miles north of Clarence in Shelby County at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, a 2016 Ford Focus, driven by Kim L. Willis, 39, Georgetown, Ill., was northbound traveling in the southbound lane when he struck a southbound 2009 Chevrolet Silverado head on. The Silverado was being driven by Katlyn L. Mefford, 27, of Clarence.

Mefford was transported by Air Evac to University of Missouri Hospital with serious injuries. She was wearing a seatbelt.

Willis was pronounced deceased at the scene by Shelby County Coroner Corey Eagan at 1:39 p.m. Willis was transported to Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home in Shelbina. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Both vehicles were totaled and insured by Progressive. The Focus and Silverado were towed by Still’s Towing.

The MSHP was assisted by Shelby County Sheriff’s Department and Shelby County Ambulance.
