Church News

Heartland Happenings:
Congratulations to the newlyweds! Friends and family of Gary Brayfield and Jacquelyn Kline filled Countryside Christian Church in Kirksville, Missouri, on June 7th to see the couple get married.
Jan Nethery threw a birthday party for her husband Lee this week. Friends and family dropped by to wish Lee a happy 70th, then sat around and enjoyed conversation over burgers and hot dogs, snacks, sweet tea, and s’mores around the fire.
We were excited to welcome Pastor Kris and Martha Palmer back home following their extended vacation out west. Two of their children and their families live in Wyoming, and their oldest grandson was graduating from high school this year. They also spent an extended time together with the rest of the family, and Kris even picked up a tennis racquet for the first time in many years. Another highlight of their trip was hiking in the mountains, enjoying Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks with the grandkids. It was hard for the Palmers to say goodbye to the grandkids, but it’s sure good to have them home!
Heartland Christian Academy’s summer program students have also been getting in some hiking, exploring the trails at Thousand Hills State Park in Kirksville one day last week. Armed with baggies, they found nature treasures of leaves, bugs, and pebbles to carry home. After the hike and lunch, it was on to a giant playground to use up some more of that boundless energy all elementary kids seem to have. Hats off to the staff who have been going above and beyond in their summer activities; the kids are loving it! Stay cool, y’all.
