The annual Pink Out game to raise awareness for breast cancer was held at South Shelby on Thursday, October 3, 2024. North Shelby defeated the Lady Birds, 11-0 in five innings.
The Lady Raiders (12-6) got on the board in the first inning after an error was made by South Shelby. North Shelby’s Emme Jones was walked to begin the game.
North Shelby’s Harper Copenhaver bunted and reached first base on an error by second baseman Reese Maupin. Jones would cross home plate. NS led 1-0.
North Shelby’s Isabella Jones, Adrien Wiley and Emelia Flores were all walked which brought Copenhaver home. The Lady Raiders led 2-0.
In the third inning, Copenhaver doubled on a fly ball to centerfielder Gracynn Lanpher. Isabella Jones doubled on a fly ball to Lanpher and Copenhaver scored. Flores singled on a ground ball to shortstop Bella Cook to bring Isabella Jones home. NS held a 4-0 advantage.
South Shelby’s Callie McWilliams walked Emme Jones. North Shelby’s Addy Uhlmeyer homered on a fly ball to leftfield and the Lady Raiders led 6-0.
Isabella Jones singled on a fly ball to centerfielder Madison Wilt which would bring in a Lady Raider. North Shelby held a 7-0 lead.
North Shelby’s Emma Christine singled on a ground ball to Wilt. North Shelby’s Sadie Gander hit a ground ball and reached on an error by South Shelby’s pitcher Kylie Million. Emme Jones earned a triple on a line drive to right field and NS took a 9-0 leader.
The last two runs in the game were made after Copenhaver singled on a ground ball to Wilt in centerfield and Emme Jones and Clara Uhlmeyer would score.
North Shelby had 10 RBIs in the game. Emme Jones, Addy Uhlmeyer, Copenhaver, Isabella Jones and Flores each captured two.
Addy Uhlmeyer struck out six batters in five innings and had zero walks.
Sofia Eleazarraraz was the only Lady Bird (14-9) to collect a hit in the game.
McWilliams started the game for South Shelby and walked five batters. Million finished the game and had two strike outs and walked one.
