North Shelby jumped out to a 9-3 first quarter lead in February 17, 2025 Lewis and Clark Conference Girls play at Knox County. The Lady Eagles battled back. Knox County reeled off a 12-2 third quarter run for a 23-21 lead with 23 seconds remaining in the period.
Neither side could seem to muster the scoring needed to win most varsity basketball games in the final eight minutes. Harper Copenhaver sank enough fourth quarter free throws to lift North Shelby to a 27-25 win.
Both teams apparently suffered from a lack of practice time because of a streak of inclement weather. The Lady Raiders held Knox County to a pair of made field goals. North Shelby sank ten two point baskets.
Both sided played good defense. North Shelby displayed better rebounding. North Shelby led 21-12 with 4:58 to play in the third quarter. Knox County scored the next nine points. Kalli Parrish scored the tying bucket for Knox County with 1:15 remaining in the period.
Adison Strong extended the KCHS run to 11-0with a pair of free throws at the 23 second mark of period three. Knox County led 23-21 entering the fourth quarter. The teams hooked up in a scoreless fourth quarter battle until Harper Copenhaver put the ball through the hoop with 2:40 to play in the game.
The contest was tied at 23 all. Adison Strong sank two Knox County free throws with 1:34 to play in the game. Knox County turned the ball over with 26 seconds remaining, trailing by a point.
Harper Copenhaver sank a North Shelby free throw with 6.8 seconds showing on the clock for the 27-25 Lady Raider win.
Knox County sank four three pointers to one for North Shelby. The Lady Eagles got to the free throw line more often in a physical game. Knox County made nine of 14 free throws. North Shelby hit on four of six from the charity stripe.
Adison Strong scored a game high 13 Knox County points. Kennedy Parrish scored six points. Kalli Parrish tallied five points. Myleigh Miller added one KCHS point.
Addy Uhlmeyer led North Shelby with eight points. Mallory Griffin scored seven points. Hadlee Parsons scored five points. Harper Copenhaver scored all four of her points in the fourth quarter. Ally Rich added three points.
