Brashear Wild Tigers Down North Shelby

Brashear scored twice in the fourth and again during the sixth inning of their March 28, 2025 varsity baseball game at Brashear for a 4-1 victory over North Shelby (0-2). Cole Erwin struck out 13 batters on the way to a six inning, three hit one run performance. Bailyn Halley fanned two more batters during the seventh inning for the save.
The contest was a very entertaining, well-played game on both sides. Kaden Hunolt and Grady Gander reached on back to back leadoff second inning hits. Cole Erwin and the Brashear-Novinger defense stranded the runners on second and third with no runs scored.
Brashear broke the ice when the first three batters reached in the fourth inning. Riley Whitlow doubled two men home for a 2-0 advantage after four frames.
The Raiders threatened in their fifth inning when Kale Pollard walked leading off the inning. Cole Erwin faced the top of the North Shelby order down, holding the runner on third base.
Brashear (1-1) picked up two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Koehn Stewart stroked a one out Wild Tiger single. Riley Whitlow plated his third run of the day with a two out base hit. Bailyn Halley plated another run with a hit for a 4-1 lead heading to the top of the seventh.
Reliever Bailyn Halley set the side down in order, preserving the 4-1 Brashear-Novinger win. The Wild Tigers had four runs on six hits and one error with eight men left on base.
Koehn Stewart recorded two hits and scored twice. Cole Erwin pitched six innings with 13 strikeouts, no walks on three hits for the win. Bailyn Halley pitched one inning with two strikeouts for the save.
North Shelby posted one run on three hits and one error. Cole Browning pitched five and 2/3 innings with four strikeouts and four runs, two earned on eight hits and four walks.
Cade Fallert pitched one third of an inning with a walk, Fallert stranded the bases loaded with a ground out to second base.
The Raiders are scheduled to travel to Linn County on Tuesday, April 1. NS host South Shelby on Thursday, April 3 and travel to Paris on Friday, April 4. All games are scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
