The South Shelby Middle School Bands recently performed for judges at the Monroe City Middle School Band Festival on April 12, 2025. Both the 6th Grade and 7th/8th Grade Bands received Gold ratings for their performances, which is the highest rating that can be given.
Several middle school students also performed solos or small ensembles at this festival. The following soloists received Silver ratings: Ruby Blackford (snare drum) and Logan Law (trombone). The following received Gold ratings: Allison Broughton (flute), Sophia Coon (alto saxophone), Paige Seaver (flute), Alivia Willey (alto saxophone), a woodwind trio made up of Brady Brookhart, Sophia Coon, and Paige Seaver, and a duet made up of Wyndle Boyd-Schoonover (alto saxophone) and Diamond Young (trumpet).
Three South Shelby entries also received “Outstanding Performance Awards” that are given out to performers of exceptional quality. They were given to Allison Broughton, Sophia Coon, and the Woodwind Trio.
