The North Shelby National Honor Society hosted the annual Sue Lund Memorial Spelling Bee in the high school gym on Tuesday, May 13. The 2025 Bee champion is Jimmy Jones, 8th grade son of James and Ashley Jones. The Runner-Up is Jake Schwanke, 6th grade son of Jesse and Diana Schwanke. Twenty-one fifth through eighth graders competed in the bee, which lasted six rounds. Each participant received a certificate, while the champion and runner-up received plaques. In addition, the champion name will be added to the Sue Lund Memorial Spelling Bee plaque that resides in the elementary hallway. Mrs. Lund was an elementary teacher at North Shelby for 28 years. She was a beloved teacher and an avid supporter of the spelling bee.
